Our Story
We’re Susann and Nancy Briggs—and even though we didn’t grow up in Winnsboro, it has always felt like home. Coming from the Dallas Fort Worth area, we visited often to see family, and over time, this little East Texas town stole our hearts. Our winemaking journey began with humble roots: homemade batches from fresh fruit and grape kits. Before long, we dreamed of something more—and in true Briggs fashion, we decided to go for it. By 2005 we opened our own winery and bistro. After three successful years, we relocated to Sulphur Springs—but our hearts never left Winnsboro. In 2017, we returned home and opened The Barrel House on Market Street. Once again, the community welcomed us with open arms. The Barrel House became a cozy gathering place for friends, family, and great food. More than anything, this has always been about community. We built this for the people of Winnsboro—a warm, welcoming place to relax, celebrate, and share a good meal. Since planting our first vines, we’ve made countless friends—many now feel like family, including our dedicated staff. And here, in the heart of a town we love, we’re proud to keep building something lasting—one glass, one plate, and one memory at a time.
